Chanting the Chakras
This course provides an opportunity to discover the healing power of voice through chakra sound meditation, toning and chanting. Empower your singing voice and tonable skills in a relaxed environment.

Harakeke Weaving
Learn the basics of working with harakeke, combining practical flax weaving along with the tikanga integral to this art.

Go Parent
This course will support you to be the best parent you can be. As well as developing parenting skills, the course will look at how you were parented, and how these experiences impact on your relationship with your children.

“Working With Women”
Confidence, Communication & Concerns
In Term 2, 2012, Kapiti Women’s Centre will run a training programme for women wanting to join the Centre Worker team. Please read the information below to find out more. If you’re interested in taking part, please call the Centre 04) 902 6222 to register.
Centre Worker Training Programme
There will be two orientation sessions to learn more about the Women’s Centre and about what our volunteers do. Then, if it sounds like you, fill in an application form and come along to the training.
Orientation: Tuesday 24th April 9.30am-11.30am OR Thursday 3rd May 12.30pm-2.30pm
The training has three components.
PART ONE: A course of 6 sessions over 4 weeks where we will find out more about ourselves and the women who use the Centre. The sessions are on Tuesdays from 9am-12pm, and Saturday from 9am-4pm.
Session One: Tuesday 8th May – Getting to know each other
Session Two: Saturday 12th May – Welcoming & Creating a safe environment,Getting to know ourselves
Session Three: Tuesday 15th May – Our women’s world
Session Four: Saturday 19th May – How do we know what to do?
Session Five: Tuesday 22nd May – The world around me – other women’s stories
Session Six: Tuesday 29th May – Our work at the centre; saying goodbye
PART TWO: Once you have completed the theoretical training, you are required to complete three practicum exercises where you will learn about the day to day working of the Centre. You can choose the day and time you come to the centre to complete the practicums, each takes about an hour. The duty Centre Workers will be keen to help you in any way they can.
PART THREE: Once you have completed the course, the supervised exercises, and taken part in a final interview, you will be invited to take a regular duty at the Centre, either on your own or alongside another Centre Worker.
