Cats Night

Congratulations to our 1st prize raffle winner, ticket number 709 Becky Ellen-Johnson and our 2nd prize winner ticket number 974 Irene. What a great night we had.  The show was amazing, the costumes were wonderful and the music was great.  A big thanks again to the continuing support of the Otaki Players and also a huge thank you to the Kapiti community for their support, without the support of these wonderful people our fundraiser would not be possible.

Growing Food and Herbs

Join Green Gardener Hannah Zwartz, to learn about building gardens, finding cheap or free materials, nourishing the soil, and growing your own food. This course covers composting, worm farms, liquid feeds, and planting seeds and cuttings.

Oil Painting for Beginners

Using water-based oils (virtually no odour), we will produce several works including a small landscape and floral image. A chance to make this versatile medium your friend!

6 x Thursdays, 1pm – 2.30pm, beginning 22nd August. This course has an additional $15 fee for materials.

 

NEW: Introduction to Meditation

We will look at the benefits of meditation and how it can be useful in our lives. We will explore 3 main approaches to meditation, including the history and philosophy behind these methods. Sessions include guided meditation, reading, discussions and watching related DVDs.

Kitchen Cupboard Cosmetics

Learn to make and use your own natural, ethical and low-cost face,body and hair care products. Experiment with oils, herbs and ‘kitchen cupboard’ nmaterials to make and take home products such as body scrub, moisturiser, perfume, deodorant and toner.

Bringing out the Best in Children

A course designed to help women develop positive parenting skills and explore ways to bring out the best in their children (of any age). This service is unavailable until further notice – Reiki (From The International Centre for Reiki Training)

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.  It is administered by “laying on hands”.

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you.  Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

Treatments are generally given on a massage table.  You do not remove your clothes and you can ask to have a light covering over you during the session.

Treatments are available Friday afternoons, sessions are approximately 45 minutes and cost $10 which is donated to the Centre.

Go Parent

Fridays beginning 17th May

9 sessions, 9.15am – 12pm

This course will support you to be the best parent you can be. As well as developing parenting skills, the course will look at how you were parented, and how these experiences impact on your relationships with your children.

 

Harakeke Weaving

Learn the basics of working with harakeke, combining practical flax weaving along with the tikanga integral in this art.

Our very popular art course for absolute beginners is back! This six-week course will give you the opportunity to try out lots of different drawing materials with a new image to take home each week. With step-by-step demonstration you can’t go wrong!

We will sing a wide range of simple songs together, and learn the basics of vocal technique in a relaxed supportive environment.

Marvels of Massage!

If you’ve been thinking about doing a course this term at Kapiti Women’s Centre, there is one opportunity left! Our ‘Marvels of Massage’ course runs over two Friday morning sessions – April 12th and 19th – from 9.30am – 11.30am. Learn some marvelous relaxation techniques, and how to massage and nurture yourself. The course is $15, and payment will reserve your place (registration is essential).
